Supporting sustainability and equity at Western Washington University
During the 2024–2025 academic year, I served as a student-at-large council member on the Sustainability, Equity, and Justice Fund (SEJF) at Western Washington University. The SEJF supports student and faculty-led projects that advance environmental and social justice, providing funding to initiatives that promote sustainability, accessibility, equity, and community resilience on campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviewed and voted on proposals spanning community engagement, student life, and sustainable infrastructure
- Evaluated grant requests for projects such as the Disabled Peer Mentorship Program and Reproductive Justice: Equal Access to Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptive Care
- Participated in regular quarterly meetings, collaborating with students, faculty, and staff to assess and approve funding proposals
