Website and Community Systems
A period of web, software, and organizational projects exploring how digital infrastructure could support learning, collaboration, community work, and small organizations.
From 2017 onward, I spent several years building websites and small software systems for organizations, collaborators, and projects connected to the systems-thinking community around me.
Projects included work with the College of Exploration, an educational nonprofit managed by Peter Tuddenham; WISER Solutions, a systems-oriented consulting group; Cerbanimo, an early community project-management software effort; a neighborhood community blog; and a restorative-justice nonprofit.
I also worked on several more experimental ideas.
Kelzzia began as a sustainable-fashion concept following conversations in Colombia. I designed a prototype storefront that attempted to make sourcing and environmental information part of the shopping experience rather than something buried elsewhere on a corporate website.
Cerbanimo was an early attempt to build software around community organization and project management. Rather than simply providing a place to publish information, the project explored how software could structure participation, relationships, and collaborative work.
Mentor Connector was a more ambitious project that grew partly from the community-infrastructure thinking behind CARIN. Our team attempted to create a structured environment where mentors and learners could find one another around projects, goals, and shared interests. I built matching profiles, learning spaces, publishing tools, project pathways, and administrative infrastructure around the idea.
The software existed, and we ran some initial learning activity through it, but we never developed a sufficiently active network of mentors for the system to become self-sustaining.
I also worked with WISER Solutions, a systems-oriented consulting group, building web infrastructure and interfaces around their work.
This period gave me extensive practical experience with WordPress, membership systems, interface design, information architecture, Figma, content systems, and client work. More importantly, it gave me an early understanding of software as infrastructure for organizing behavior.
